Darwen travelled to the Fylde Coast to face AFC Blackpool looking for their first win since the opening day of the season away at Garstang.

Kenny Langford welcomed back Leon Creech into his starting Eleven after a lay off through an injury picked up against Steeton.

Just like the opening day, Darwen flew out of the traps. Kit Lloyd became an early menace on the left hand side delivering a few early dangerous crosses but they were not pounced upon in the area.

Just Three minutes on the clock and the Salmoners in their Pink change kit took the lead.

Leon Creech intercepted a horrendous back pass and went clean through against the goalkeeper. The prolific striker made no mistake as he bore down on goal. 0-1.

Just Four minutes later Darwen doubled their advantage. David Lynch flicked a ball over the top of the Blackpool defence into the path of Brayden Shaw.

The former Cardiff City man coolly beat the keeper down to his right to much jubilation from the travelling fans. 0-2

On the Fifteen minute mark it was Three. Shaw linked up well with Creech to put him clean through on goal again.

The marksman picked his shot and the ball flew straight into the top corner. 0-3

Darwen in total control pushed for a Fourth. Ashley Brierley, beat his man on the right and his cross found Kit Lloyd in the area. The winger just couldn’t keep the ball down and his half volley flew over the bar.

The Mechanics in Tangerine, carved out their best move in the first half with around Five minutes to play before the interval.

Tremaine Eastmond found space inside the Darwen box and from around Ten Yards out he fizzed a shot wide of the post. Darwen went in at the interval, good value for their lead.

The hosts must have had some stern words at half time as they came out the better side after the break. Matt Sillett was the first to test Lenny Fieldhouse in the Darwen net and the stopper pushed Sillett’s shot round the post. Just after an hour had been played Mamudu Touray Touray beat his man and struck a close range effort towards goal but once again Fieldhouse was equal to it.

After a couple of substitutions, Darwen regained control of the affair and the sting of the spectacle petered out. The only chance of note fell to Enoch Takpe. He caught a volley crisply from a Kit Lloyd cross but Daniel Hall in the Blackpool goal produced an excellent save to preserve his second half shut-out.

The Full time whistle echoed around Jepson Way and the full Darwen squad clapped off and went to thank the brilliant travelling support. Three Points and a first clean sheet of the season was registered.

Darwen next turn their attention to back-to-back home games against Holker Old Boys and NWCFL new boys Shelley.
